Location: Home > News > Worthwhile at home Worth while at homeWays to make some moneyIf you would like to learn how you can contribute to your family’s finances when working at home, then mark May 30 on your calendar. An open day is being held to give people an opportunity to realise their true worth and learn valuable homemaking skills. The meeting will begin with an explanation of just how many people can contribute to their family's finances when working at home followed by the establishing of networks whereby women can share, exchange and gain skills in a friendly and supportive environment for very little cost.
"Many people vastly underestimate' the value of what they can contribute from home. Lots of these people get a job to help contribute to the family's standard of living in the mistaken belief that they will be better off by doing so” says one of the meeting's organisers and author of "Earn $50,000 per year as a House Spouse", Diana Henderson. "l am fed up with the way housewives and househusbands are treated in society. I believe that society must learn to value, encourage, and support women and men who work at home," says Diana. You can easily produce goods and services worth over $50,000 per year at home. As the average woman's wage (according to the Department of Statistics) in 2001 was lust $14.75 per hour (about $30,680 per year) most families end up working harder to go backwards." In addition to practical budgetary advice, the book takes an in depth look at the value of the work that housewives and househusbands can do from home. It teaches them to maximise savings, reduce costs, cut out the middle man, validate themselves, and "feel proud to be a house spouse." - Hastings Leader - 15 May 2003
